MISSION & VALUES

Harvest Community Church Exists to Help the Southern Willamette Valley Find and Follow Jesus.

FINDING JESUS

We believe that Jesus changes everything.  Whatever you are searching for – hope, peace, forgiveness – it is found in Jesus Christ.  Many people think they know Jesus because they have been to church.  We don’t want to introduce you to church.  We want to help you discover who Jesus really is.

Following Jesus

We help people follow Jesus by living out our core values.  We believe that a passionate follower of Jesus is a person who lives as Jesus lives and loves as Jesus loves. Specifically, we want to be people who love everyone that Jesus loves. So we work to help you love God, love people, love the world, love your neighbor, loves outsiders, and love your enemies.

OUR HOPE FOR YOU

We’ve dedicated 2024 to helping you experience “aha moments” with God. Life is full of them, but these are the big five moments we exist for most.

  • Welcome Home – To know you belong here.
  • Finding and Following Jesus – To put your faith in Jesus and want to live as He lives and love as He loves.
  • Loving God – To live in, from, and for the love of God – with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
  • Loving People – To learn to love others – inside the church, outside the church, neighbors, friends, strangers, and enemies.
  • Loving the World – To embrace the mission to bring the love of Jesus to everyone.

OUR VALUES

  • Preeminent Love – We start with love and end with love.
  • Life-Changing Worship – We worship around the Word because the Word Changes Lives.
  • Diversity in UnityWe prioritize unity, but reject uniformity. We value both inter-generational and ethnic diversity.
  • Humble Authenticity – We lead without pretending because we know that nobody is perfect.
  • Meaningful Servanthood – We out-serve our size.
  • Outsider and NEXT Generation Focus – We focus on reaching people far from God because they matter to Jesus and to us. We place a disproportionate focus on kids, students, college students, and those who are not yet here.
  • Positive Influence – We will be known for what we are for, not what we are against.

Matthew 22:34-38

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together.  One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”  Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.

Matthew 22:39-40

And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Matthew 28:18-20

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
